Quiaufa "Sherri" Royes is Executive Chef and Owner of Quiaufa's Kitchen. She grew up in the Brownsville area of Brooklyn, New York. From a young age, she learned to cook with her grandmother and studied The Food Network programming. She was always baking cakes and helping her siblings each year on Thanksgiving.
Quiaufa received her Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts from Kingsborough Community College. It was here where she became exposed to her current techniques and refined the skills she learned at home. As an intern at Georgia's East Side BBQ, she quickly became exposed to the fast pace of a restaurant kitchen. Our Chef then attended NYC College of Technology where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality Management. She took another internship at SoCo Brooklyn, a fine dining soul-fusion restaurant. It was all of her experience at City Tech that led Quiaufa to start her own catering business.
She founded Chef Sherr's Catering LLC in 2014, with a focus on preparing international soul food. In 2015, she attended NYCHA's Food Business Pathways, which acted as a catalyst and lasting support system for her career. It wasn't until 2019 that our Chef decided to change her business name to Quiaufa's Kitchen. She has served many corporate clients including NYCHA and the Fund for Public Housing. Quiaufa's Kitchen now focuses on providing healthier versions of traditional southern cuisine, with health-conscious dietary features such as reduced sodium and sugar alternatives.
In Quiaufa's Kitchen, soul food means food that makes you feel at home.
We focus on providing healthy, delicious meals that all will enjoy. After reading her story, isn't it time to book Chef Sherri for your next event? Send us an email today!
